~~~***~~~***
As I look at Jimmy, I wonder where it all went wrong. It was supposed to be a simple surveillance. We weren't supposed to get caught, Jimmy wasn't  supposed to get shot saving my life. Jimmy wasn't supposed to be with  us...period. But that's Jimmy for you. He sneaks up on you without  warning, somehow endearing himself until you can't deny him. And that logic, or lack thereof. Jimmy Bond was never known for his logic. I wish there was a way we could see what goes on in his head. Once he gets a thought process going, only he can follow it. He's proven that time and time again, most recently with Peanuts...err, Simon.
*~*earlier the same day~*~
"Forget it Jimmy! You can stay here and man the fort. We'll go out and watch what Severese is up to," Frohike demanded.
"It's my story!" Jimmy pouted. "I took the call, I convinced you guys to at least look into it. I want to follow through!"
"Frohike, just let the kid go. At least then he'll shut up," Langly noted.
"Then who'll stay here?" Frohike asked.
"You and me. Let Byers baby-sit Jimmy," Langly answered, turning his attention to a computer game.
"I don't need a babysitter," Jimmy pointed out.
"With all the trouble you get into, you need to be tied to something when we go out," Frohike muttered.
Byers, who had kept silent until then, said, "Jimmy, let those two stay if they want. But you're right, it's your story and you should stick with it. Let's go."
Jimmy followed Byers out to the van, where Jimmy climbed in the passenger seat while Byers drove.
"This is going to be a long day, isn't it?" Jimmy inquired as Byers drove.
"Why do you ask?" Byers counter-asked.
"Whenever Frohike treats me like that, something happens to make it a long day," Jimmy answered, staring out the window.
